Two days ago, I decided to visit some of the leaders in our community. I wanted to solicit their thoughts: resolutions for 2009 concerning their immediate community and their homeland.

Almost all of them had a positive outlook about Sierra Leone. They are willing to give the president and his cabinet another year grace period. All these people are not APC party members: at best party sympathizers.
Mrs. Nene A. Bengah, a proud grandmother with three grandchildren, still married to her first love from secondary school.

Born and raised in Fourah Bay town, she has lived in Atlanta, GA since the early 1990s. Well loved and respected by the Sierra Leone community in GA. Anytime you call on her for help, she is ready and willing to give it to you. Her resolution is as follows:

"I would like to wish all Sierra Leoneans in Atlanta, in the USA, in the world and of course at home, a happy and a prosperous New Year. I only have two resolutions. First, that this year is better than last year for me, my family, and all my friends. I would like to see a better Sierra Leone that we can all return to.
Secondly, I would like to encourage the young couples, the newly married, to talk to their mates because communication is the key to a long lasting relationship; I would like to encourage these young couples to stay together."

Mr. Kalil S. Kargbo, has been the President and CEO of FAKS Allied Health Education School since 1996. He is a businessman and one of the most popular Sierra Leoneans you can find in Atlanta. He is always at the forefront when it comes to raising money to help the sick pay their rent or bury their dead. Most community or town hall meetings are held at his school.

Kalil is married with three children, two girls and a boy. Kalil is always ready to help all Sierra Leoneans regardless of their tribe or religion. He says,
"I only have one simple resolution which is to teach all Sierra Leoneans and Africans to fish; this is the reason why I started this nursing school. And lastly I would like to help more Sierra Leoneans train in the Medical field and to place them in good jobs. And lastly I plan to invest in Sierra Leone in the very near future."

Abdul Karim Kamara is President & CEO of Sierra Tires; a new and used tire outfit since 1999. He is married with two children and a step daughter. His dream is to make the jihad. He employs most of the Sierra Leoneans as they try to adjust to life in the new world. He is a community leader with a generous heart. If anybody is raising funds for any cause, Abdul will be the first person to call; he will never say no.
Resolution: "to see all Sierra Leoneans get along and to see all politicians working for the common good of our country. I would like to see a good banking system in the country. Also, to have all Sierra Leoneans buy their tires from me."
